Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the region, producing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage

Locals reported large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units working to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, around one thousand energy customers in Victoria also faced energy failures after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the region, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

• Werribee - experienced considerable storm damage
• Hoppers Crossing - multiple assistance requests
• Wyndham region - 179 calls for assistance

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.

Weather Forecast

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk anticipated across different parts of both areas.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities alerted that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the area.
